Electro-magnetic door holders, also called fire door holders or fire door retainers, hold fire doors open safely and legally. The Electro-magnetic door holders will allow a fire door to be held open electro-magnetically allowing a free flow of traffic. In the event of a fire (or power failure), the magnet is released and the door closer will close the fire door securely to help limit the spread of fire throughout a building. This type of door control is ideal for busy corridor doors such as those found in hospitals, care homes, hotels and schools.
Securefast have now introduced the ADP324-FR power supply unit which is a 24V DC 500mA switch-mode unit that is very compact (H110 x W178 x 68mm), attractive, but tough, in a steel housing with an externally visible status LED. The 24V DC output is designed for the highly inductive loads that electro-magnetic door holders present, eliminating the need for additional control relays and reducing the chance of an ‘electrical spike’ causing problems, which is a frequent cause of personnel delays and expensive engineer call outs as well as being able to be used for general 24V DC applications.
In addition, the PSU has a normally closed (NC) volt-free, opto-relay output for remotely signalling its status and serviceability. This output can be used to indicate problems either locally or remotely to a Fire Alarm panel or to a suitable signalling device. The unit is protected by an intelligent electronic fuse technology with automatic reset to reduce system downtime and features a unique protective technology, includes intelligent and capacitive load switching, surge protection and snubbing.
The ADP324-FR Power Supply Unit can handle up to 4 double doors with 8 magnetic door retainers, based on 50 mA each and can be fitted horizontally or vertically.
